In addition to having several online businesses and directing an insurance and employee benefits agency, Spencer's  background includes running an advertising business in Charlotte, N.C. as well as financial planning and improving benefits, insurance, and retirement plans for small companies (and their owners) for over eighteen years. Also, after obtaining an MBA, Spencer worked two years as a financial analyst (reporting to the CFO) for a $50 million internet company where his duties ranged from analyzing financial and revenue statements to acquisitions, new project initiatives, and budgeting.

In working with small companies, realtors, and individual businesses, we noticed many holes in their marketing strategy (particularly as it related to their online strategy).

First, while many businesses created nice websites and used normal advertising channels (print, radio, tv, etc...) to generate business they didn't have a way to capture prospects driven to their website or leverage social media. In addition, on the back-end, many of these companies did not automate their marketing campaigns (or even have a dedicated strategy) to follow-up/drip on their clients and prospects. And, as a result, they left many prospect and client orders on the table. Last, and probably most significantly, I noticed that many of these businesses were (and still are) getting charged huge fees to implement relatively easy and common online strategies (that many of these businesses could do themselves if someone showed them how or had the correct programs).

But, rather provide cost-effective online tools and strategies that you can easily implement and utilize to market your business (especially video marketing).   Many of these tools are NOT very difficult to manage after you've set them up and you should expect a decent ROI.
